Super Concentration

Carly loves Desperate Housewives. I don't really get it, we have different tastes in entertainment. Can you believe she doesn't get Star Wars? Brent enjoys the same sort of entertainment as me (no I don't mean strippers) but he also likes that gothic vampire weird crap I can't stand. I actually heard him make a phone call from my house to his roomate at the time (Mouse I think they called him) to make sure the VCR came on to tape Buffy. Anyway, Carly is watching season 2 of Desperate Houswives on DVD while at the same time starting season 3 as it airs on TV. Look at the intensity of concentration in the first picture. Then look at the second picture and you can see the difference during a commercial. Then there is Teddy, my parents dog we were dogsitting. He doesn't care what's on TV, just as long as he can cuddle up in a comfy spot. Teddy has got a heart problem (he's almost 12) and we made the mistake of telling the kids he has a "bad heart" and not to get him excited. We took him down to the park and the kids are showing him to everyone and the kids feel they have to tell everyone "This is Teddy he has a bad heart". Funny thing is all the kids are coming over to ask to pet him. One girl asked Cassidy what her dogs name was and if it was a boy or a girl. Cassidy says "Tabatha and she's a girl". Tabatha wasn't even there, the little girl was asking about Teddy but Cassidy knows Teddy is not her dog, Tabatha is.

Kids Being Kids

Look at this face, the kid has got it all. Good looks (from his Dad of course) and just fun to be around. I have a beef with the current school policies. The school system is going too far with what is exceptable behavior. The phone calls from the school last year (grade one) were becoming irritating because of the small issues they were addressing. He pulled some girls hair, he threw rocks at lunch hour, he got out of his seat on the bus etc etc etc. I am sorry if I am wrong on this one but that is normal to me. Today he hit another kid on the bus that was annoying him and they did a formal report and letter to us and sent it home for us to sign and send back. I talked to the mother of the other child at the bus stop because I know her and she thought it was ridiculous that they even made an issue of it and we had a little talk with the both of them when they got off the bus. I can see the bus driver's beef, seeing how I can hardly handle driving the car with two kids in the back. The bus would be safer with every kid sitting looking foward and being a perfect occupant, but that would only exist in a perfect world. Point of this post is that Gavin is not perfect, he does some things before he thinks but that sort of maturity to overcome his impulsiveness comes in time. Hopefully not too much time. There have been times when he hits my nerves in social situations where he can be a handful. Basically the little bad stuff doesn't matter to me because it is part of being a kid and growing up. Like I said he does do certain things that need to be controlled but at the same time he does so many more things that just make me proud.

Wanted.....Kid That Cannot Be Recognized

Carly obviously has some minor talent in the arts, no doubt she can draw a simple picture that looks pretty good. However, this picture she did on a dry erase board was supposed to be what she saw while looking at Gavin posing. I think if they posted a wanted poster with this rendition, Gavin would be free to tour the country with no chance of getting caught. It was just one of those fun things you do before bedtime, make your kid sit still for a few minutes and try to capture the moment with a marker. The Cassidy portrait will be be posted when it is captured in such an artistic way. The original has been erased off the board but thanks to digital photography I took a picture to capture what I like to call "Not Quite Gavin"
