In The Wrong Hands

The news has been dominated the last few days with the issue of the Virginia Tech shootings. Gun control is a touchy subject with some people but even though I am not a fan of Michael Moore, his movie "Bowling For Columbine" brought a lot of facts to light for me. I never shot a real gun until a couple of years ago. It involved a few rifles and a shotgun. We had some plastic containers filled with water and some clay skeets as targets. I admit it was a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again someday. It's not until you fire a gun with your own hands that you can appreciate the power behind it, which is why that kind of power should not end up in the hands of insane people. It just seems from what I read that it's easier to get a gun than a credit card. Just a few seconds and you can be approved to own one and buy ammunition. BUT, I read something that made me think about guns in the RIGHT hands. With the current Virginia thing, if someone else was there packing a gun it could have been stopped by them. My point is, that kind of power has to be in the right hands. These people that use guns to hurt or kill people probably would not challenge a heavyweight boxer without a weapon. The gun gives them too much power, literally in the palm of their hands. An excellent quote from a blockbuster movie is "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibilty". I hope my point was not taken in the wrong way, I think the picture explains what I mean by in the wrong hands.
