Are You Smarter Then A 5th Grader

This is a question on Gavin's homework the other night. It made me chuckle mostly because it is the right answer. I am sure most would say the second answer. But to me, that answer is less accurate. An alcoholic drink is liquid. A liquid does not necessarily have to be "flowing" as the second answer states.
.
I left his answer as is.
.
Seems to me most kids would first ask what an alcoholic drink is.
.
Here is the question and choice of answers.

And The Oscar Goes To .... The Washer

Our old washer quit, I tried to fix it. Soon after that didn't work me and Gavin destroyed it for fun and to make it easier to get to the end of the driveway. A few weeks ago we got a replacement and I don't get it but for a week or two I kept catching everyone watching it like it was a great movie. I had to sneak up quietly to get these pics. There are no pics of him but Gavin too will watch a whole cycle. It's not like a gripping movie where you are wondering what might happen. It's the same story every time, CLEAN CLOTHES.

The Clearing

This wine looked as dense as the bag hanging next to it a few days ago but the top is crystal clear now. More days involved in the clearing process but it is a little tiny packet you add and stir like mad and you don't want to skip this stage in the process. Making wine is easy when you follow the instructions. I just wish my kids came with such easy to follow instructions.

Deja Vu Of Juan

Pretty windy out there the other day. Didn't think much of it other than really cool blowing trees. This particular tree was next to our shed which is on the side of the house. It fell onto another tree in the perfect direction not to do any damage to the shed or house. The kids and the neighbors kids sawed away at the branches for a long time. Not by my request but whatever non-damaging stuff they want to do that wears them out works for me.

I Needed to Evict Mickey

Noticed a bad smell in the furnace room. Couldn't figure it out but eventually traced it to a blue bag of recyclables. Horrible smell when I found the source and it ended up being a mouse that climbed in a Smirnoff Ice bottle and died there. So then I decide to clean the garage up a bit and noticed a weird smell again, sort of similar but not as bad. Turned out another mouse made himself or herself a Winter nest in my printing press UV dryer. When I took it apart a mouse darted out and then disappeared. It looked like a lot of work to put that nest together but Mickey picked the wrong location for a long time stay. My kids and the neighbor's kids (5 of them all together) searched the garage thoroughly and finally got the little one out the front door unharmed but without a home. The nest is pictured below, about the size of your average sized cantaloupe. It was made of many different materials gathered including paper towel, yarn, and leaves. Below is a pic with the cover I took off that houses a 2000 watt light bulb, an extremely hot bulb that instantly drys ink. Glad I never turned it on before I found the winter home. Probably saved the mouse and maybe a fire.

Winding A Watch

I have an automatic watch (movement by motion, no battery)

My Brother gave it to me at Christmas a few years ago but when you don't wear it for a while it stops from lack of movement. Takes a lot of time to wind it to the right date because you have to go hour by hour to make the date changed.

I came up with a quick solution to cut down on winding time.

Here Comes The New Tiger

The Yukes may be responsible for the next Tiger. He did not have a great final score but it was his first time trying with his clubs he got for his birthday. First off the tee went close to 100 yards. He kept up great hits off every tee but in between and putting is where the work needs to be done.

It was a cloudy day and we pretty much had the course to ourselves. His lucky 9's are still coming. We played 9 holes and because he had some high ones being new at it I waited to get home to tally the scores. He ended up with a 99. If he was allowed to gamble I would love to take him to the Casino and bet on anything that involves the number 9.
His score was high because he had no patience for putting ....... but he was honest on the stroke count.

Gavin Speilberg

Please let this become a passion and he becomes the next international sensation in film making. I need a backup on a retirement funded by him. He is taping my soccer game at Dalhousie Wickwire field. Unfortuntely for some reason I can't find the footage, I think I taped over it by mistake.

Then And Now

Above is back in the day where he had baby fat. He eats 10 times as much now but burns it off a little too quick. So below is skin and bones and a little muscle. He's stronger than he looks though.

Ribs Are Messy

If your going to have ribs you might as well go full force and get messy. This was a few months ago but I am pretty much sure that the mash potatoes were also consumed without the use of utensils.

Cassidy on a different day with the ribs but the same idea.

Art

Concrete slab in our backyard got some chalk put to it. Gavin is an abstract artist I guess. Not sure on the meaning. I got a picture of it before the rain washed it away the next day.

Gizmo

I was renaming some pictures and came across one of Gizmo. Hard to believe he's been gone for 5 years this weekend. He shedded like crazy, he stunk like a whole dog shelter, and he loved to mark his territory everywhere possible in the house. But he was a great sidekick.
